Notes

● Ch2 and ch1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.

● Due to the amount of colour changes I personally find it much easier to weave in the ends as I go.

● If you would like your cowl to be wider or thinner you can add or deduct chains at the beginning, just make sure the final number of chains are an even number.

● The yarn colours are optional. There is only 30m used from each skein so you can use less colours if you desire.

● If you don't fancy the colour changes this cowl would look lovely in one colour or a variegated yarn as long as you match the gauge.

Gauge - 12 stitches x 7 rows of the pattern - 1 row of DCs, 1 row of X-ST (RPT)

10CM X 10CM SQUARE

Pattern

Colour A Ch 80 loosely without twisting (see pics below), slst to 1st Ch.

Crochet stitches and a crochet hook

To chain without twisting, Ch 10, remove hook from working end and insert into 1st chain. Then making sure the chains are not twisted, insert your hook back into Ch 10 and carry on chaining as normal. When you have chained the correct amount, slip stitch to the 1st chain and continue with round 1. (See pic above).

Round 1 - (WS) Ch2, dc in same ch (base of ch2), dc in all chs, slst to 1st dc. (80dc)

Round 2 - (RS) Ch2, turn, sk next st, X-ST around the whole row placing the final st in the same st as the ch2 from the beginning of the round, slst to 1st dc (40 X-ST)

Colour Change

Round 3 - (WS) Attach colour B using your preferred method (I fastened off my previous colour and attached my new yarn with a slst in the top of the last st from the previous round), ch2, dc in same st, dc in every st, slst to 1st dc. (80)

Round 4 - (RS) Ch2,turn, sk next st, X-ST around the whole row, slst to 1st dc. (40 X-ST)

Keep repeating rounds 3 and 4 and changing colour every other round (the odd round) until you a total of 24 rounds.

Round 25 - (RS) Ch1, sc in same st, sc in every st, slst to 1st sc. (80sc)

Fasten off and weave in ends.
